                            Dear Amigo’s and Amiga’s,

For your reference the Chinese Calendar was founded in 2637 BC by Emperor Huangdi, thanks to him we have a good reason to celebrate Chinese New Year again. There will be a lot of Fireworks and a lot of Hongbao’s (red packets) full of money !

Last Sunday we had very exciting games on our pitch :

                            Japan-Hawks 1-5
For the Japanese team it was a disappointment as a win would bring them into reach of the top spot of the SPL, however the Hawks had other ideas, especially their striker Miles was on fire, only 21 years old he scored three goals ! First half 0-3 and at 1-4 there was a rare incident as a Japanese player saw red. At first he thought the referee wanted to hand him a Hongbao for New Year but soon he realized that he could take an early shower. Credit to Japan that even with 10 players they kept on fighting but on the day the Hawks were too strong.

                            Dulwich-E-Rouge 2-0
Talking about red the Dulwich appeared in a brand new retro outfit. Captains keep an eye on the shirts colour as most of us like to play in Red or Black, the away team has to adjust. Game was even with both team fighting it out on the mid-field not too many chances and not too many shots, Dulwich got a boost by two goals and three points and now are aiming for the third spot in the SPL.

                            Bulls-Lions 1-2
Lions waisted several changes in the first half and had to start the second half 1-0 behind after a brilliant run and goal fm Nico. Second half Lions kept on pushing forward and got their equalizer by Frantz as they wanted the three points, it left the Bulls to play on the counter attack and that’s where they are most dangerous, In the end Frantz’s second close to the end of the game left the Bulls empty handed.

One I-Pod from a Dulwich player went missing on the Pitch if somebody found it ps contact John Hinde 13816460167

Congratulations to Angela, who opened her New Latina Restaurant and Bar in the Grand Gateway Shopping Mall, Plaza 1

Honqiao Road / It’s a very nice place and there will be a lot of party’s organized in the future !

We wish all SPL Players and Supporters and Friends a Happy Chinese New Year and see you all next year !

                            Hola  Amigos and Amigas,

We are preparing for the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Ox stands for a double Spring on the Lunar Calendar. What it means for the SPL is that a lot of players will either get married or get a lot of children which is good for our expansion plans, maybe we can organize and SPL mini league, or an SPL mini team !

Last Sunday it was great to see the teams back on the field and the games were good entertainment !

Bulls – Japan 1-2  The first half the Bulls took the lead 1-0 after a quick counter, FC Japan didn’t play in their usual All Black shirts because of the away rule and it seemed as if they were playing another sport. Nothing worked for them and the desperate/angry coach decided 10 minutes before the end of the first half to take drastic action which will give him a place in the guiness world-record book as he substitute 9 players in one time. Bulls were still trying to score from a counter but Japan started to play better and better. In the end two goals in the second half gave Japan an important victory and three points closer to the number one spot in the SPL.

Hawks-Vlis 6-2, Fantastic game full of goals ! 1-0,2-0,3-0,3-1,4-1,5-1,5-2,6-2 One of the goals by a Brasilian players (no 6) was applauded by the Belgian Players, Goal of the Season better than Ronaldinho. After the game the player was sold to Barcelona .

This Sunday we will have a full program with three games. Believe it or not but the weather will be 16 degrees on Sunday with a crystal blue sky. We cannot ask for more as on Monday the temperature will drop back to 4 degrees ! Gao Mao !

                            10.00 AM Japan-Hawks
This is a BIG Game as Japan is chasing for the number one spot and would like to have a revenge for the unfortunate loss of the Santa Cup final would welcome everybody to come and watch this thriller !!

                            12.00 PM Dulwich-E-Rouge
It will be an interesting game as we don’t know what all the players did during the long break.

                            14.00 PM Bulls-Lions
Last time it was 3-4 this time the teams promise a lot of goals again.

Lets enjoy the weather and the games either as player, or referee, or coach or supporter or just a friend of the SPL !

See you all on Sunday / Cheers Freek / SPL President on behalf of the SPL Committee

                            Amigo’s and Amiga’s,

Believe it or not but we have started 2009 and slowly we are getting back into day to day life in Shanghai ! I am sure everybody enjoyed the New Year Holidays and before we know it we will have another Chinese New Year Holiday. The winter

seeds has been planted. So the pitch will turn into a green-carpet in when Spring arrives but first we are going into the winter and we are going to play as long as it goes……!

This Sunday Jan 11 we have the following entertaining SPL Program :

10.00 E-Rouge – Galacticos  Game was postponed by request of the the French who usually over eat and over drink during the New Years celebration, Rumors floating that the whole team is now weighing over 1500 kilo and that all of them have bought memberships at Marie France Body Slimming Saloon’s.

12.00 Bulls – Japan First game of 2009 and important for both teams. All the Japanese players went to the temple to pray for their first SPL Championship this season. And Bilgin’s Army just kept on training and are ready to cause a major upset !

14.00 Hawks – Vlis Bottom vs Top or Top vs Bottom whatever it is I would favour Vlis looking at the weather predictions for Sunday, the Brasilian Players of the Hawks will be frozen and the Belgiums will play on ice-skates.

The weather outlook shows a clear blue sky and temperatures reaching a high of 4 degrees !

January 18 we have a full program before going in to the Chinese New Year break !

Keep Fit and Keep Warm ! Good Luck and See you All on Sunday !
