Shanghai Premier League

Amigos and Amigas,

Unfortunately the school has had to inform us already that no activities can be held on the field Sunday March 1st, for that would utterly destroy the field. Basically if we'd play on Sunday, the next possible activity on our field would be planting potatoes...

Anyways, don't let this get you down.
Keep it up for another week.
We will be publishing the new schedule on Monday.

And to get those smiles back on your faces, check out this announcement we got just in from Angela!!!

If you are more into barely dressed men though, check out the afterparty 'party in our pants', more info with Ned...

Amigos and Amigas,

Recently the weather in Shanghai is terrible, cold windy and the rain doesn’t seems to stop. Think we need to go to the temple and pray to the weather God’s. We have several weather channels and models which we are monitoring but for now the predictions are for a wet weekend again.

Hopefully we get some dry spell and hopefully all the weather forecaster are wrong ! If so we have the following program planned on the first of March.
10.00 AM Japan-Galacticos  12.00 PM E-Rouge-Lions14.00 PM Hawks-Dulwich

In case cancelled will inform all of you on Saturday 18.00 PM, by mail and sms !

Good news is that the Clubhouse has been remodeled and Big Bamboo will serve food and drinks to hungry and thirsty SPL Players !

Let the Rain Stop / See you all on Sunday ! / Cheers Freek SPL President on behalf of the SPL Committee

Hi Guys,

Meteo says it will rain tomorrow.
In order to make sure the field is in good shape for the coming months, we need to cancel tomorrows games.

Sorry about that.

Will let you know the new dates soonest possible.

Amigos and Amigas,

First of all an important notice ! Last Sunday we were informed that a mobile phone and a wallet got stolen from the field during the Japan game. We urge the captains to be extra carefull. Pls inform your players to watch over the bags at the field and suggest to collect the valuables and keep separate place. In case you identify a suspicious person on the field please inform the security guards as in principle strangers are not allowed on the pitch. We will talk to the school to make a locker in the clubhouse as alternative.

Lets go to the Fiesta !
Lions – Galacticos 4-1
For 30 minutes the game was even but a free kick for a “hand” ball sent the stand in goalie of the Galacticos with ball and all over the line. A quick second gave breathing space to the Lions. The second half Lions added one more before the Galacticos pulled one back behind Etienne, stand in keeper for the Lions. 4-1 the end result. After the game cold beer in Latina ’s so everybody happy.

Japan – E-Rouge 0-5
Well this was an amazing game to watch. Japan looked frozen either by the cold weather or by the impressive play of the French. To be honest they played brilliant football and one nice goal after the other was going in. Whatever Japan tried to do it didn’t work shots wide, over, post etc…! They even started to play long balls which is very rare for Japan , luckily for them the game lasted only 90 minutes as otherwise it could have been 0-10 on that day.

Bulls – Dulwich 5-2
We cannot say that we didn’t warn the captains, but the bulls are specialist at counters if you don’t prepare yourself against it they will bring you to the cleaners.  Dulwich knows it by now. That’s why they are third in the league. Never under estimate a Bull…..!

The weather outlook for 22 February is cold but dry 10 degrees so lets enjoy round 10 of our SPL Season !

10.00 AM Japan – Galacticos
For sure Japan want to forget their defeat of last Sunday and Galacticos want to get out the bottom of the table.

12.00 PM E-Rouge – Lions
If E-rouge play the same way as last Sunday, the Lions are going to have a tought game. One thing for sure there will be a record amount of French players on the field.

14.00 PM Hawks – Dulwich
lets see whether the break did any good to the Hawks. John Hinds is making a master plan how to defeat the Hawks. We guarantee you a lot of goals.

Next Monday we will held the SPL CUP draw on the highest building in the world ! Yamada’s tower ! Look out fr the result on our website www.shanghaipremierleague.net !

We don’t mind to play in winter we just want to enjoy the games !

Cheers / Freek SPL President / On behalf of the SPL Committee !

Amigos and Amigas,

These days its hard to find a lot of positive news around. People losing jobs everywhere and companies cutting costs as for them it’s the only way to survive. All of us will know some people who have been affected by the crisis. Compared to other parts of the world, China at the moment is not a bad place to work and hopefully will get their economy soon back on the fast track. In times of crisis there is nothing better than to enjoy a game of football with friends and “win or lose” having an ice cold beer after the game.

Last Sunday we had two “fair played” games :

Vlis – Bulls 0-4
For one half the game was equal, but after 1-0 for the Bulls the Vlis players start to push forward and that’s deadly against the Bulls, especially if you give Nico ample of space, once he is at full speed nobody can stop him. Captains you are warned !

Dulwich – Galacticos 2-0
Before he knew it in the first minute “stand in” goalie Ned Kelly (Galacticos) had a goal against him and Galacticos were running behind the facts. Happy to have noticed that Mikki of Japan is finally having competition as Danielle a very talented aussie was playing for the Galacticos. Maybe it’s a trend and more and more talented ladies will join one of our teams. Bring them on !

Coming Sunday we have a full program and all three games are important :

10 AM Lions – Galacticos
“Il classico” guaranteed good battle not to be missed.

12 PM Japan – E-Rouge
Both teams didn’t play all their games yet so the winner will surely move up the chart

14 PM Dulwich - Bulls
Only one point different between them Dulwich 12 and Bulls 11 points currently 3rd and 4th place.

Hawks and Vlis are having a bye which means for once the Hawks don’t win and Vlis don’t lose !

The weather outlook is ok but there are rains in the forecast for Sunday so we will monitor the situation closely. In case of postponement you will get a notice mail and sms latest Saturday 19 PM.

Ps check out our website www.shanghaipremierleague.net we posted the Dulwich team first News Letter, Great example of what the SPL is all about, Friends,Fairplay,Football and Fun ! Feel free to send your team news to Frederik so we can post it on our site.

If you know companies (maybe your sponsor) who wants to put an advertisement board at the field ps contact me.

Enjoy your Valentine Date(s) / Keep it short as more important is your game on Sunday / Enjoy the games on Sunday !

Cheers / Freek SPL President / On behalf of the SPL Committee !

PS by Frederik... pls find pictures of VLIS - BULLS below. Comments are highly biassed...

Welcome back Amigos,

Sofar the winter has been mild in Shanghai and actually the weather during the spring festival was good, so hopefully our pitch will turn green soon !

We have the following program for Sunday 8 February !

10.00 AM Vlis – Bulls
I am sure Vlis had extra training session in Harbin and will appear super fit, Bulls went to the temples to turn their “unlucky run” around !

12.00 PM Dulwich-Galacticos  Will be a great game with Dulwich showing their new retro outfits and aiming top three spot in the league and the Galacticos have been well rested for several weeks so they are injury free and hungry for three points and thirsty for a beer in Latinas afterwards.

It seems the weather gods will be with us and forecast 13 degrees and sunny on Sunday !

Lets enjoy the Games ! Cheers ! Freek / SPL President / on behalf of the SPL Committee
