Amigo’s and Amiga’s,

This is the time of the year that most football leagues are crowning their Champions ! The SPL is no exception and we are in the “Champion-ships Zone” !

Lets get first back to last Sunday we have one league game and two Semi-Cupfinals, great day great weather great battles a few cards and two reds and a lot of goals as usual !

Bulls – Japan 4-0
Surprise result to many but not to Bilgin who know the strength of the Bulls and assured us that their unlucky days were over. Japan looked flat and not sharp, not sure but it seemed they had no speed and needed new batteries. Actually this loss could proof costly in the race for the championship.

Lions – Hawks 4-0 Semi-cup Final !
The first half the Lions were on fire but failed to score, Michael missed a penalty blaming it on the ball as well they hit the cross-bar twice, further the Hawks goalie had some excellent saves. Hawks were playing in the counter and almost scored when they slipped thru the defense but our friend from Sao Paulo missed in front of Nicolas. Once the Lions scored its was difficult for the Hawks who were missing a lot of players to come back.

Galacticos – Dulwich 4-2
Both teams came out full strength aiming for the Cup-Final ! Dulwich had a few players just returning from the Great Wall Marathon (Congratulations to them who finished), but as soon as the game started the heat was on. First half not many chances both sides 1-1 and in the second half the battles became harder but always fair in the end. Ned Kelly seemed to be the danger man upfront for the Galacticos and with his help they took the lead 3-1. Dulwich didn’t give up here and scored 3-2, just one minute later the Dulwich goalie misjudged a cross and the Galacticos were secured a place in the Final.

21st of June Galacticos – Lions.
Congratulations to both teams !

Amiga’s and Amigo’s,

Temperatures are reaching 30 degrees this weekend in Shanghai . Last Sunday we had two typical exciting SPL games in Green City for the spectators it was fun and pure entertainment.

Vlis – Galacticos 4-5
Both team very eager to get out of the bottom of the league. You can argue that they are in the bottom because their defense is not strong enough or you can say that they don’t score enough goals. In this game goals were everywhere which made it an interesting game. Both teams were lacking an actual goal keeper which of course makes a difference, the fact that Galacticos had more substitutes might have given them the edge to secure the three points.

Lions – Japan 3-4
Because of the Golden week holiday in Japan they didn’t have 35 players this time but unfortunately for the Lions the strongest and fastest players were still there. The Lions wasted several opportunities in the first half but got a gift fm Japan as the goalie let the ball slip throught his fingers. Japan playing on the counter attack like kamikaze warriors and quickly drew level 1-1. The second half we need to give credit to Japan as their passing combined with speed was too much for the Lions who now have to fear for the second spot in the SPL.

This weekend we have no games but there will be a youth international rugby tournament on the field so if you are interested come and watch the games !

17 May will be a weekend not to be missed with the two SPL Semi-Cupfinals !

11.00 Japan –    Bulls         (postponed game)
13.00 Lions –     Hawks      (semi-final)
15.00 Dulwich – Galacticos (semi-final)

As most competitions are reaching their final rounds the SPL is no exception and teams will fight for the ranks and trofees !

Bring on the Sun-Cream ! See you 17th of May / Cheers Freek / SPL President on behalf of the SPL Committee
