                            Amigos,
                            Lions – E-Rouge 0-2
The French were very happy after their first time victory over the lions, allthough the lions had the major possession of the game, the red stars managed to get two surprise goals behind Nicolas, one was great lob. A few defensive mistakes gave the Lions open goal scoring opportunities but it seemed that they didn’t want to score.

                            Hawks – Foxes 0-1
Very pleased to see both teams back in action and its was an entertaining game with the decisive goal only falling at the end of the game. Foxes managed to contract an argentine goal keeper just released from Boca Juniors, believe he would do  very  well in the Chinese Circus, great acrobat and he kept the clean sheet for the Foxes

                            Vlis – Japan  0-1
Japan got the opening goal after that they decided to sit back and play only on the counter attack, Vlis had to come and came very close a few times, not sure why they didn’t score as Japan had the shortest player on the field as goalkeeper…..!! Congratulations to Japan as they are the new leader of the SPL.

Last weekend we didn’t see a lot of goals we can find three explanations 1) defenders are getting better 2) strikers are out of form 3) goalkeepers are getting better. If you ask me I will go for option 3.

For the teams who didn’t pay the league fee yet, make sure this weekend its done !

Watching all three games last Sunday, I noticed that a few players had to retire from the games due to injuries. Of course we want to play to win and we are not “pussy’s” but we as well have to be carefull not to hurt each other, we want everybody to enjoy the games and play as many games as possible instead of having to visit parkway or sino-united for three weeks in a row, pls keep this in mind.

Coming Sunday the weather will be good, bit cooler 15 degrees but dry the field is in good shape so enjoy the games.

                            10.00 AM Hawks-E-Rouge
old time rivals since the world cup final guaranteed entertaining to watch.

                            12.00 PM Vlis – Foxes
no idea who will win this game, let it be the strongest team.
                            14.00 PM Bulls – Lions
Lions are still in rebuilding phase lets see whether Bilgin warriors can take advantage of it.

See you all on Sunday / Cheers Freek / SPL President on behalf of the SPL committee !!

October 26 preview (cynically enough added on October 28) 10/27/2008

Well the weather was great, the pitch was good and we finally played again, the beer was ice cold after the game what else can we ask for ?

Japan – Lions 2-2 The Japanese are looking dangerous in their new all black out fit, seems they are faster and as usual they are with too many. However the “new” Lions took the lead 2-0, the Lions lost Charles II when he had a head collision with a Japanese players and was off to the Parkway clinic where he fell in love with a beautiful French/Chinese doctor called Sophy only to come back from a cold shower after she presented him the Bill of 4000 rmb for 7 stiches ! Second Half Japan was the better team equalized and the newly recruited Lions goalie Nicolas had a few brilliant saves to keep the score at 2-2.

Bulls- Galacticos 5-0 Sad day for Jamie as most of his players opted for the F1, only positive for him that at least Lewis Hamilton had a great race and will clinch the title next week. Bilgin’s smile said it all without playing the Bulls are the leader in the SPL !

Vlis – E.Rouge 2-0   Neighbour country affair. Even game in the first half which ended goal-less. Second half Vlis scored twice. Seems their evening training sessions paid off. For E-rouge maybe the poor performance of their national team recently is having some bad influence on them.

This Sunday the weather will be good 22 degrees and overcastted but no rain in the forecast !

10.00 AM Lions – E.Rouge Both team will look for their first win this season !
12.00 PM Foxes – Hawks   First game for them good to see both teams back in action !
14.00 PM Vlis- Japan Lets see whether Vlis can keep up with the pace of the Japanese thunderball’s

                            Galacticos/Bulls have a bye

Pls keep in your agenda free ! 7 December our first “SPL Christmas Tournament” in the Jiangwan stadium 11-aside after that we will hold the SPL Christmas party, tournament awards will be paid in beer !!

See you all on Sunday  / Cheers Freek / SPL President on behalf of the committee !

Sunday 19 October Match Preview 10/14/2008

10.00 AM Lions – Japan  This season the Lions lost most of its players to Qilin but they are building on a new squad.  Bottom-line is that this year there will be a newly crowned Champion ! Japan is playing in a new all black out-fit, so pls don’t think that all the 60 people in black you see on Sunday are referee’s !

12.00 AM Bulls- Galacticos  Bilgin said his team will go straight to the top of the league and will try to make a point against the Galacticos that there are no easy games in the SPL.

14.00 PM Vlis – E.Rouge  Classic encounter ! Allways fun to watch. E.Rouge changed their management and under new leadership style they try to find their way to the top. Vlis last year in the bottom was the most serious team in the pre-season, playing tournaments, friendlies, survival camps and mindnight training sessions. Lets see which team will benefit most from the changes they made !

Foxes and Hawks will play a friendly on the other schoolfield.
