Shanghai Premier League

Hello Childrens of Shanghai,

I swooped down yesterday from the high north of Lapland to this beacon of light called Shanghai. Rudolph deftly rounded the Oriental Pearl and I found myself in a dark back alley, also known as Element Fresh.

There I met with two representatives of the Shanghai Premier League. For the time has come for the first ever Santa Cup.

So I took my best Chistmas stocking and the names of all your teams went in there. We found an innocent waitress to do the draw, for let's face it, I am not that innocent either, you know... Whether the waitress is innocent remains to be clarified by some in-depth investigation which I plan to arrange rather sooner than later.

In any case, you can find below the result from our secret draw as well as the whole battle plan for what must be a super fun Santa Cup and Christmas Party!

Love,
Santa-man

Amigo’s,

We had a great weekend of football with a lot of goals and “fair” played entertaining games !

Bulls – Hawks 1-3
Highly entertaining game with a lot of opportunities fr the hawks in the first half. It seems that andrea’s tactics to have an Italian defense, Chinese midfield and Brasilian attack is paying off this season, as they took a 2-0 lead after free kicks fm Thiago and Alex. Bulls were dangerous with Nico trying to break the Italian “Gaetona Scirea” but Hawks scored again in the second half, Bulls pulled one back 1-3 final score.  Hawks still on top of the SPL at least for another 10 days !

Galacticos - Lions 1-3
Classic Encounter in the rank of Celtic – Rangers, Barcelona – Madrid and Dalian – Shanghai. Lions as usual played well the first half, scoring three goals ! Galacticos pulled one back. After the break the Lions sat back in defense trying to keep the scoreline in tact despite the Galacticos pressing forward more aggressive it stayed 1-3 !

Japan – Dulwich United 4-0
According to John Hinde of Dulwich most of his players were either in the local hospitals or undergoing counseling after their dramatic defeat last week against the Lions (4-3). Japanese were fresh like sashimi as they had a bye for two weeks, first half Japanese players were all the opponent, resulting in a deserved 1-0 lead, going into the tea break. John’s team opted for English Breakfast Tea to wake up his players and Japan refilled with Japanese Green Tea. After the break the Dulwich had several chances but the Green Tea seemed to work better as Japan scored three more goals in the final 15 minutes of the game. This year Japan is looking dangerous in their “all black” outfits.

This Sunday there will be no games so that everybody can recover from fever, injuries, colds, economic crisis, divorces. Next games will be Nov 30 as our weather predictions don’t go that far forward can only tell you that it will be colder, around 10 degrees and only 5 pct chance of rain.

We are interested to talk to potential sponsors of the league or on the website. If you know interested companies please introduce them to Frederik or Freek (easy !)

Our first 11 a-side Christmas tournament and party will be held 7 December fm 12.00 pm onwards at the Jiangwan Stadium, will give you full details next week.

November 30 games :
Hawks – Lions 10 AM
will be a great game with both teams trying to go or stay at the top of the SPL

Bulls – Dulwich 12 PM
Surely a lot of goals as both teams are attacking teams and pay less attention to defending !

Enjoy your break ! Cheers / Freek Boelen SPL President on behalf of the SPL Committee

Amigos,

(to see the results and standings in the nice Danny TM excel sheet, pls download the sheet from the collumn to the right)

Hawks-Galacticos 5-0
Its incredible how fast the time is flying living in China…….the Galacticos were confused by the change of summer and winter time and showed up with a full squad at 11.00 am. The good thing was that they showed up in full force, the bad thing was that due to the time difference they lost the game 5-0 as the game was forfeited. Now it looks like the Galacticos are having special “art of war” strategies to confuse opponents, watch out as these guys are going fm rock bottom to the top of the league. For now the Hawks are leading the SPL and that’s the fourth team to lead the league this season !

Lions-Dulwich 4-3
The lions scored two goals in the first 5 minutes and were on fire. Dulwich played like hairy crabs and got another goal against them. The second half the Lions played like hairy crabs and a strong wind was against them as well the Dulwich are having a new Swedish striker, Ralf Edstrom, who is made out of of Ikea wood and is as tall as Yao Ming he is unstoppable in the air and his strikes match the speed of the Maglev train, so 3-3 with 5 minutes to go. Lions desperate looking for their first win didn’t give up and Michael K scored the winner. Great entertainment for the spectators and we saw a lot of bookmakers around the field.

E-Rouge-Bulls 2-2
We got a call from Greenpeace China as they noticed a lot of dead animals on the E-Rouge website. Apparently after their famous victory vs the Lions the added a dead Lion picture to their match report. The Dulwich Foxes were quick enough to take action and they changed their name in Dulwich United and the Bulls were smart enough to secure a 2-2 draw thanks to two early Christmas presents of the French Stars.

The logo competition is in full swing and we received more than 15 logo’s already you can submit your logo to shanghaipremierleague@gmail.com .

Amigos,

This year the SPL Championship is going to be one of the most interesting races on earth. Already in the last three rounds we had three different teams leading. Looks like this trend will continue and the Ladbrokes and illegal Chinese betting rings are going to make fortunes.

Hawks – E- Rouge 1-0 The world cup final (Italy-France) no head butts / no red cards. Good fighting game and exciting until the last minute in the end the Italians claimed there first victory of the season, leaving the French empty handed !

Vlis – Foxes 0-2 It was clear that both teams were going for the win and it looked like the game would end in a draw. However according to Vlis the referee completely misjudged a penalty given against them. We have started an investigation whether the referee has anything to do with the illegal betting ring. Since John Hind doesn’t play anymore but only focus on coaching the Foxes have won all their games and are leading the SPL !

Lions – Bulls 3-3 Highly entertaining game, Lions had 75 pct ball possession, 15 shots on goal,12 corners and Bulls 25 pct ball possession, 4 shots  on goal and no corners ! I loved the fighting spirits of the Bulls and Bilgin was the mastermind he was substituting his players every two minutes leaving the Lions puzzled who would come in and where they will place. Last minute strike gave them the well deserved draw !

Check out our website www.shanghaipremierleague.net and pass the info on to your players and sponsors family and friends. Frederik received good response on his on line registration form as well we received good Logo design, we will select three of the best and let you choose the final logo on the website, Logo will be presented at the Christmas party and the designer will be flooded with champagne of course.
The weather will be good 20 degrees and sunny ! Perfect to bring your girlfriends, wifes and ai’s as winter will kick in early this year. It snowed in London already !

10.00 AM Hawks – Galacticos No excuses any more fr the Galacticos, they have their F1 champion and will be ready to start their SPL campaign !

12.00 PM Foxes – Lions I am sure the Lions are looking for their first win and Foxes don’t want to end their winning run against the Lions !

14.00 PM Bulls – E-Rouge Guaranteed drama don’t miss it !

Enjoy the  Games ! Fairplay and Fighting Spirit ! See you all on Sunday / Cheers Freek / SPL President on behalf of the committee !
